Experimental Fiction

Instructor(s): Private: Patrick Gear

Course Code: JY16-F27
What if the laws of writing suddenly didn’t apply anymore? What if nobody ever taught you the right way to do things? What if you were given the opportunity to change how communication works? What if you were bored of learning the rules and wanted to break a few? What if you wanted to invent instead of copy? Experimentalism is more than just being random and weird—it’s a way to explore the boundaries of creativity, and to expand them. And it’s fun. Topics will include elements of fiction, metafiction, perspective, automatic writing, structural changes, extreme minimalism, surrealism, and plenty more! For intermediate and advanced writers.
