Are you a lover of poetry who finds its seemingly endless forms and styles confining? Does sketching out a rhyme scheme put you to sleep? Do you believe the sonnet should have died with Shakespeare? A workshop dedicated to the undisciplined discipline of free verse poetry is what you’ve been waiting for. We’ll discuss each other’s poems through the lenses of image, breath, (unconventional) form, performance, sound, and more. To help us along, we’ll take a look at free verse poems penned by many wonderful poets, from Whitman to Williams and Goethe to Ginsberg. This class will run July 29 – August 19.
