Honing your Narrative Craft

Instructor(s): Wendy Low

You have been writing narrative prose—fiction, memoir or history—and you feel ready to dig into techniques that will take your work to the next level of excellence. In this class you will experiment with how changes—in point of view, balance of scene, half-scene, and exposition, elimination of unneeded explanation, and weaving in thematic through-lines—can enrich your work. You will apply one powerful method of analyzing various layers of plot, character, and thematic elements. In final classes, we will give each other feedback on how one piece of connected prose is working on us as readers.
