Emily Dickinson once said that if she felt physically as if the top of her head were taken off, she knew that she was experiencing real poetry. In this course, we will study the theory and technique of poetry in order to make our writing more purposeful and disciplined. We will look at several literary traditions and movements to inspire the writing of our own poetry! We will have critique work-shops so that each poet can receive critical feedback throughout the drafting process. Finally, we will look at literary magazines where we could submit our polished pieces!
