Marilynne Robinson is unquestionably one of the great writers of the 20th and 21st centuries—her crystal-clear prose reflects a tremendous depth of insight into the human soul and its roles in the created cosmos. In this ten-week course we will read and discuss the three novels in the Gilead cycle: Gilead, Home, and the recently published Lila. Discussions may be supplemented by additional readings from Robinson’s essay collections, The Death of Adam and When I Was a Child I Read Books. No prior experience with Robinson’s writing is required—all you’ll need are copies of the books and the desire to discuss them in community.
