Writing Your Young Adult Novel

Instructor(s): Charles Benoit
Beginner

Whether they’re jumping on the latest must-read bandwagon or setting off on their own discovering new authors and genres, more teens are reading more books than ever before. YA novels encompass anything (and sometimes everything) from zombies, aliens and dystopian worlds, to romances, historical fiction, mysteries, and gritty, real-world dramas. This class will explore some of things that make YA novels distinct, including character, voice, and setting, as well as the conventions that (usually) work, and the writing rules that everybody seems to be breaking.
