Each month, Writers & Books participates in the citywide First Friday program. We pick a theme, and keep our doors open until 10:00 p.m. In addition to the fun, we’re hosting on the first floor, you can also peruse our bookshelves and buy some cheap reads or check out the Wide Open Mic at 7:00 p.m. on the second floor. Our open mic, Rochester’s longest-running open mic, is hosted by Norm Davis. Stop in and see us!
November 4: Debut Novel Series & NaNoWriMo celebration –
Debut Novel Series Reading and Reception: Hear Garth Greenwell and Hannah Tennant-Moore read passages from their debut novels, followed by a candid discussion about the process of publishing. Learn about the ins and outs of publishing, and the often unpredictable path it takes for a book to go from the author’s desktop to a reader’s hands. Moderated by W&B Executive Director Kyle Semmel. The evening will close with a reception with a book signing.
NaNoWriMo celebration: We’re inviting all our National Novel Writing Month friends. Come to write, come to relax. Our space is your space this month. Free wifi and comfy chairs included.
December 2: Blind Date With a Book – It’s back! We’ll select a variety of books, wrap them in brown paper packaging and write descriptive words on them. Then you pay a dollar and take them home with you!
If you would like to make a request for any special accommodation, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org at least 7 days prior to the event.
