Residencies at Gell: A Finger Lakes Creative Retreat

New! Gell Residency for Writers with Children, Award recipients will be announced by March 1st, 2017.

Writers & Books, the premier independent literary center in Rochester, NY offers a one-week writing residency to three writers with young children. Writers can choose our urban location, located in Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts—which includes tuition for accompanying children to attend Writers & Books SummerWrite camp program (ages 6-18) — or our rural facility, Gell: A Finger Lakes Creative Retreat, located in scenic South Bristol, NY (about 45 minutes south of Rochester) on 24 acres of gorgeous woodland. Lodging is included for up to a one-week stay. Each writer, their children, and one other adult will be reimbursed up to $1,000 for travel and food expenses for the week. This residency is funded in part by the Sustainable Arts Foundation.

The three residency awards will be announced by March 1st, 2017 and will take place between April – August 2017. Dates will be negotiated after acceptance.
