Gell: A Finger Lakes Creative Retreat
Gell: A Finger Lakes Creative Retreat is quiet place for meetings & retreats owned and operated by Writers & Books. It is located on a 23-acre plot in the Bristol Hills, just 50 minutes away from Rochester, NY. It is a perfect location for individuals and groups seeking a unique and refreshing place of escape surrounded by a landscaped yard and acres of woodlands.
The Gell House has two furnished suites, each consisting of a bedroom, sitting room/workspace and bathroom. The common space is the dining room and fully equipped kitchen. Several large windows overlook the yard, which slopes down to a brook and valley beyond. It’s the perfect setting for study, writing, reading, discussion and reflection.
Our most recent Writer-in-Residence, Deborah Noyes’ wrote a significant portion of her book “Captivity” published in 2010 by Unbridled Books, and was at Gell the end of September to work on her next novel.
The Gleason Lodge, which can accommodate up to 74 people, had its groundbreaking ceremony in June 1992 and was completed in the spring of 1993. This facility captures the essence of the Bristol Hills and provides an inspiring meeting place for day-long meetings, seminars, or workshops. The Gleason Lodge is completely handicapped-accessible. A new residential wing, housing up to 20 people, will soon be added.
While at Gell, enjoy the tranquil 23 acre property for outdoor activities such as hiking, walks to the apple orchard, and the pristine babbling brook. A superb location for team building exercises.
