Acting 102 for Playwrights

FA9-D01
8 Thursdays, 7–9 p.m.
Oct. 3 through Nov. 20
$175 W&B members/ $180 general public
Instructor: Michael H. Arve

Many playwrights are as mystified by the art of acting as actors are by the art of play writing. In 8 weekly sessions we will explore the basics of acting, the process of developing a character on stage and how to be true to the character as written on the page. We will also discuss the challenges actors and directors have in performing and mounting a play. The class will culminate in a public performance of original plays by writers in the class in the Performance Space, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m.

Through the generous donation of a W&B supporter, seven scholarships are available for the class Acting 102 for Playwrights each worth $175. This popular class, taught by Michael Arve, "explores the basics of acting, the process of developing a character on stage and how to be true to the character as written on the page."

To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must be a member of W&B and have submitted at least one work to any W&B playwriting competition, including 2 Pages/2 Voices and The Regional Playwrights Festival. The scholarships will be awarded on a first come/first served basis, so please act quickly. You must apply by phone, at 585-473-2590, or in person.
