The First Friday of every month, Writers & Books is open until 9 pm.
Come browse our bookstore shelves (on First Fridays, your purchase receives a 5% -15% discount); pick up a newsletter; tour our historic Claude Bragdon building; and participate in a curated activity or experience unique to that night. #FirstFridayROC
Closings
Writers & Books is closed on January 1, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Weekend, and December 25.
In case of weather emergencies, closings are posted on 13wham.
Accessibility
Our 740 University Avenue building is equipped with a lift and elevators to provide full wheelchair accessibility.
Accessible parking is available in our lot at the rear of the building.

Parking
An accessible parking lot is located behind our building, facing Atlantic Avenue. You may enter the lot either via Atlantic Avenue or via the driveway off 740 University Avenue (next to the big pencil).
Additional parking spots are available along the driveway.
The Neighborhood
Writers & Books is located in Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts (NOTA), home to many notable arts and cultural organizations and businesses—The Baobob Cultural Center, The George Eastman Museum, Memorial Art Gallery, Anderson Alley, and Visual Studies Workshop, to name a few. NOTA also boasts a number of popular restaurants, including Edibles, The Gate House, Nox Lounge, and more.
