Art and words meet in our community in this brand new class! In recent years many new murals have been painted in Rochester to build community awareness, delve into social justice, and celebrate art. We will take walking field trips, along with one or two city bus excursions to view murals throughout the Neighborhood of the Arts, the Public Market, the South Wedge, and the Rochester Aqueduct. Part of each day will be spent at Writers & Books writing, participating in group activities to explore common themes in art and writing, and having presentations by guest mural artists. This experience will put teens in a unique position to express themselves through poetry and other writing activities while looking through the lens of public art.
If you would like to make a request for an accommodation, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org at least 10 days prior to the event.
