As you may already be aware, Writers & Books will reach two important milestones this year: our 35th anniversary, and the retirement of founding director Joe Flaherty. In order to honor Joe’s legacy, last summer we kicked off the “Writing the Next Chapter Campaign,” and Writers & Books supporters have been stepping forward to ensure that we can continue to engage minds and enrich lives for decades to come. We will use the monies raised to create a permanent fund that will increase educational scholarships, bring the world’s best writers to town, maintain facilities, and expand programming that touches tens of thousands each year. We have now raised $289,100 or over 97% of our goal of $300,000!
This is a wonderful opportunity to honor Joe Flaherty’s legacy and solidify Writers & Books’ future, guaranteeing that generations to come experience Rochester as a thriving literary community. We hope that you will consider making a gift of any size today to help us REACH THE FINISH LINE so we can turn the page and start our next chapter.

“I have experienced, first-hand, the incredibly important contribution that Joe Flaherty and Writers & Books make to the Rochester community. The foundations of a healthy community can be found in Writers & Books’ support of reading, writing, and creativity. Please join me in guaranteeing that Writers & Books, which has done such a great job of bringing literature to Rochester for 35 years, can continue this important work into the future.
