Writers & Books presents Black History Month: 4 Poets Speak, a video celebrating the award-winning work of makalani bandele, Destiny O. Birdsong, Ama Codjoe, and Keith Wilson as they share poems and brief reflections on the significance and complications of Black History Month. Keith Wilson observes, “Black History Month is complicated. It’s American history, and American legacies are our legacies. I always want to reaffirm this: that there is no America without the contributions of Black folks. But it swings both ways, and we’ve also been touched by the empire.” Three of the poets will participate in post-event Q & A at 7:30 – 7:45 pm EST: join us as we take time to listen, reflect, and learn together.
