Best Friends & Worst Enemies: Creating Memorable Characters (CLASS FULL)

August 7, 2017 @ EST 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$121

JY17-F49 Plot is important, but characters are even more vital to our stories. We’ll begin by defining characterization and all the ways that writers go about creating it. We’ll study examples from particularly compelling short stories, novel excerpts, and essays, and then learn to create memorable characters ourselves. We’ll pay close attention to people’s real interests and habits, slang, and the flaws that make them unique. Through fun and interactive discussions on body language, facial expression, risks and motivations, and resolutions, you’ll develop new characters or refine those you’ve already put on the page.   If you would like to make a request for an accommodation, please email us at accommodation@wab.org at least 10 days prior to the event.
