Visual artists carry sketchbooks that are an uncensored collection of passing moments, images and ideas. For creative writers, a journal is their sketchbook, but instead of scribbling down lines, writers jot down words. Instead of playing with light and shadow, they play with sounds and meanings. If you’re someone who has thought about writing but don’t know where to begin, this workshop is for you, as well as for those who struggle with writer’s block. We will look at journaling as an essential tool for creative writers in all genres. We will explore how journaling can record events, explore our feelings, and stimulate our imaginations through exercises and techniques that will help us see the world in new ways.
