Ages: Teen

Do you know how unique Rochester is with its strong deaf connections?! You will find out in this camp designed for deaf and hard-of-hearing students! We will create short films after going on exciting adventures that showcase important landmarks in Rochester’s Deaf history. Under the guidance of artists who respect American Sign Language, twelve young filmmakers will be assigned roles and divided into two teams, to take their chance to win the Deaf Eyes! challenge, a friendly competition that will be judged by distinguished members of the Rochester community at the end of this workshop. During this fun challenge you will learn differences between traditional filmmaking & Deaf Lens approaches to create a story that supports the beauty of American Sign Language on film. The first part of camp will be spent filming, and the second part will be spent editing. Show off your creative problem solving and critical thinking skills through the creation of your final film, which will be screened for family and friends on the last day.
