Erasure Poetry is a process of finding poems within already written text. The author blacks out or erases words, leaving visible only the lines for the poem. Newspaper articles, magazines, and old books can all be used as source materials. This way of writing poetry relates to photograph collage in one very distinct parallel. That is the choice of what to leave in and what to leave out. When you photograph, and create image collages you are composing an image using the visual subject matter you have available to you. In every photograph you choose what the viewer sees, much like erasure poetry. Students will focus on current news articles, magazines and books they have been gravitating towards since quarantine began.
