Fiction in a Flash (July 8 – July 12)

July 8, 2019 @ EST 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

(AFTERNOONS: for ages 12-14) How many words do you need to create a compelling story? Fewer than you think! Flash fiction is the art of crafting a very short story in which each and every word is essential. In this camp, we will learn about all the elements of fiction writing and how they relate to this unique form of storytelling. We will learn how to hook and captivate our reader, add unexpected twists and surprise endings, all while creating original, imaginative stories. Students will be encouraged to share their stories as we edit and begin to understand just how powerful words can be. Parents can expect their child to receive one-on-one guidance from the instructor, as well as a group atmosphere that welcomes all forms of creativity. By the end of the week students will have created at least one story, which will be showcased in an anthology sent home.
