Fiction: Write That Story! (Ages: 10-13)

Code: W16-YF15 Following the hero’s quest plot that underlies much of literature and film, each young writer will develop a main character in a difficult situation, and structure a plot that puts that character to the test before allowing him or her a happy ending. Guided meditations will help you to fully imagine your scenes before you write them. Along the way we will look at building a world, with words, that readers feel is real, making our characters complex and intriguing, and creating and maintaining suspense. Whether you write fantasy or realistic fiction, these methods will work to launch your story. Please bring a journal and/or a laptop.
