In this class, we’ll explore the territory of the very-very short: short-short stories, microfictions, nano fiction, postcard fictions, even venturing into the realm of Twitter fictions and six word stories. We’ll be reading examples by masters of the form, including Lydia Davis, Donald Barthelme, and Augusto Monterroso, along with more recent work by writers such as Amber Sparks and Lindsay Hunter. Students will write and receive feedback on one story each week.
