Heroes of Social Justice

July 9 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 1:00pm, repeating until July 13, 2018

Ages: 8-11

In honor of the 200th birthday of  Frederick Douglass, we will celebrate heroes around the world who stand up for justice and freedom. We will learn about local heroes in our history like Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass, as well as today’s heroes and innovators such as refugee and Olympic swimmer Yusra Mardini, human rights activist Yeonmi Pak, and more! You will have an opportunity to write a true life story or skit that is as magical and adventurous as fiction. Make your hero come to life. Finally, share your creative non-fiction with family and friends.
