Introduction to Memoir

September 18, 2018 @ 11:15 am - 1:15 pm

$300

The personal essay is the single best way to understand one of the basic rules of memoir: tell one story at a time. In this course, you will first create a blueprint of the larger story you’d like to tell, then focus on creating several short essays. Each nonfiction essay will serve as an individual chapter in what could become a larger body of work. Students will receive mini-lessons on characterization, setting, dialogue, message, and tone, which will help them to develop their own work more fully. A special culminating event will be held Dec. 14 at 7pm.
