Charles Lamar Phillips’s fiction appears in Massachusetts Review, New England Review, Cincinnati Review, Fifth Wednesday, Chaffin Journal, Raritan, and The Brooklyner. Dead South, his collection of short stories, has been praised by author George Rollie Adams as “skillfully rendered tales of troubled souls.” Phillips’s novel, Estranged, is forthcoming from Regal House Publishing in fall 2020. A graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop, Phillips has been writer, columnist, or editor at Congressional Quarterly, The Washington Star, Higher Education and National Affairs, History News, and American History. He is now managing editor of the American Journal of Play.
Susan Vinocour, an attorney, is a retired clinical and forensic psychologist, a former prosecutor, and a former associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Her book Nobody’s Child is an exploration of the insanity defense through her involvement evaluating a defendance in a second-degree murder trial. With passion, clarity, and heart, Vinocour examines the troubling intersection of mental health issues and the law.
