|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 9:00 am, repeating until July 20, 2018

$350.00 – $460.00

Ages: 11 & Up

Dare to discover your wild side! If books of survival like My Side of the Mountain, Hatchet, and Call of the Wild intrigue you, then don’t miss this week of full immersion in nature. Come to the Bristol Hills to learn about the wonders of the environment and practice fire-building skills, foraging for wild foods and medicines, building survival shelters, making and using tools, and learning how to find your way while playing games of stealth and discovery in the outdoors. Hiking, tracking, and other natural arts will culminate in a Final Challenge to test your skills while we camp out overnight Thursday on the nearby Finger Lakes Trail. Discover how self-reliant you can be, discuss stories of heroes just like you, and feel at home in the natural world. Journaling on your experiences will be encouraged! Daily packed lunches, hiking shoes, water bottle, and a sleeping bag and pack for the last night will be needed. Last night dinner and breakfast will be provided.

NOTE: This camp takes place at the Gell Center of the Finger Lakes. The price includes transportation from Writers & Books, bus departs at 8:00 a.m. and returns at 5:00 p.m. each day, except Thursday is an overnight. If transportation is not needed, price is reduced by $110.
