Nghiem Tran, We’re Safe When We’re Alone

March 28 @ EST 7:00 pm - 7:45 pm

Free – $20.00

Nghiem Tran will be in conversation with novelist Alexandra Chang.

Son is real. Son was saved from a life he cannot remember. Son is a human in a mythical world of ghosts. This is what his father tells him. Called “hypnotic and richly allusive” by NPR’s Thúy Ðinh, We’re Safe When We’re Alone is a tale about two humans trying to belong in a world of ghosts. Set in the afterlife, the novella inverts the haunted house tale, shaping it into a moving exploration of loss, coming of age in a collapsing world, and the battle between isolation and assimilation.

Nghiem Tran was born in Vietnam and raised in Kansas. A Kundiman Fellow, he earned his MFA from Syracuse University. We’re Safe When We’re Alone is his debut.

Alexandra Chang is the author of Days of Distraction and Tomb Sweeping. A National Book Foundation 5 under 35 honoree, her writing has been published widely.
