Poetry, Pottery, and Paper

August 3, 2020 @ EST 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

$157.00

Unless otherwise noted, SummerWrite camps are offered as 5-session experiences, Monday – Friday.

Member Price: $145
Deadline to Register: August 2, 5 PM
Instructor: Lisa Johnson & Kate Whorton
Age Group: 8-11

In this collaboration between Writers & Books and the Flower City Arts Center, you’ll have a unique opportunity to merge visual arts with creative writing. You will etch a poem into your own ceramic tile, write pottery-inspired poems, interview real artists, stitch a book together, and create a collage with words and images. Though we’ve gone virtual this year, this camp will still be a real hands-on experience taught by professional artists and writers from both the Flower City Arts Center and Writers & Books. The camp will culminate with a virtual art show and poetry reading. Art materials will be available for curbside pick-up prior to the start of the camp. The clay project will need to be returned for firing, and the final project picked up. Paper materials can be mailed to students who live outside the area.
