This collaboration between Writers & Books and the Flower City Arts Center provides a unique opportunity merging visual arts with creative writing. You will work with artists to handbuild a ceramic book—on which you will inscribe your own poem, make paper, learn to make different kinds of books, and use letterpress printing techniques to decorate them. With a writer, you will play with language, learning how to use image, metaphor, simile, alliteration, line breaks, and more to write your own poems. This camp is a real hands-on experience taught by professional artists and writers who share “tricks of the trade” in ceramics, book arts, poetry, and creative writing. The camp culminates with an art show and poetry reading. Mornings will be spent at Writers & Books and at lunch time a staff member will lead campers on the 20-minute walk to Flower City Arts Center for the afternoon.

Cancellation: In the event that a camp must be cancelled due to low enrollment or other unforeseeable circumstances, you will be notified as far in advance as possible, generally 3-5 business days. A full refund will be issued.
Withdrawal: To withdraw, email office@wab.org. If you withdraw at least 10 business days before the first day of camp, you will receive a full refund, minus a 15% administrative fee. If you withdraw between 5 and 9 business days before the first day of camp, you will receive a full refund, minus a 25% administrative fee. No refunds will be given for withdrawals after the above cited dates.
