Show, Don’t Tell—But How?

March 14, 2020 @ EST 10:00 am

$75.00

Member price:$65
Deadline to register: March 6, 11:59 pm

Instructor: Alex Sanchez

You’ve probably been told at least once, “show, don’t tell!” It’s one of the fundamental rules of writing, but how exactly can we do it? Through class discussions, reading examples, and writing exercises, we’ll take a deep dive into learning the specific tools and techniques used by great writers and apply them to our own projects. (And we’ll also learn when it’s okay to tell.)

Recommended Bibliography:

  • The Secrets of Story by Matt Bird

Alex Sanchez has published eight novels with Simon & Schuster, including the American Library Association “Best Book for Young Adults” Rainbow Boys and Lambda Award-winning So Hard to Say. His novel Bait won the Tomas Rivera Mexican-American Book Award and the Florida Book Award Gold Medal. Currently he’s writing a graphic novel for DC Comics. He has a master’s in counseling, worked for many years as a youth and family counselor, and now works as an author, teacher, and freelance developmental editor. Find out more at www.AlexSanchez.com
