Song Lyric Writing

This course will improve students’ ability to write words to music. Students will enhance their skills by completing writing exercises and assignments. The result will be lyrics that are clear, concise, and creative. Aside from meter, rhyme, and form, students will learn disciplines not widely known outside of songwriting circles. The ability to read and write music is not necessary. This class will focus on the written word. Students will work from the instructor’s book, Your Lyric-Writing Workbook. One of the objectives of this class is to assist writers in being better communicators, regardless of discipline. Poetry writers will especially enjoy the class. “Inspiring!
