Songwriter’s Workshop

Do you constantly have a tune playing in your head? Are you always listening to music? Do you wish you could write your own songs, like your favorite artists? Well, now you can! Under the guidance of professional songwriters, musicians, and poets, you will be led through the creative process of writing your own song. Students will spend the first three days at Writers & Books, in poetry and songwriting workshops, learning to tune their poetry into lyrics. Special guest musicians and songwriters will enhance the experience and broaden students’ perspectives. By the end of three days, each student will have at least one set of polished lyrics. The final two days will be spent at the Rochester Contemporary School of Music in Pittsford, putting the words to music, rehearsing and recording. No previous experience with music is necessary. Accommodations will be made for writers who are not singers!
