Special Effect Sentences

November 23, 2019 @ EST 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Anaïs Salibian

Special Topic Workshop: 1 Session, Saturday
November 23, 10 am – 12:30 pm
Instructor: Anais Salibian

Deadline to Register: November 15, 11:59 pm

What kind of experience are your sentences providing for your reader? What sentence structure do you choose if you want to capture a scene, or create suspense, or deliver an emotional blow? If you’ve never studied how to grow a sentence, if you don’t know that form can actually help you generate unexpected content, if you haven’t had the pleasure of solving sentence puzzles, then perhaps you didn’t recognize that this is a periodic sentence. Craft involves making decisions about diction, syntax and rhythm, creating a particular mood or insight in readers, enticing them to further experience your prose, making you a fabulous writer. That, by the way, was a subordinate cumulative sentence. Through examples and practice worksheets, learn how to be in charge of your special effects sentences.
