Stand-Up Comedy

January 10, 2017 @ EST 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$200

Stand-up comedy is the art of writing jokes blended with the art of performing them. In this six-week experiential workshop, students will learn the basics of comedy writing and performing. Students will develop original material outside of class and perform each week for one another in a supportive atmosphere. Some in-class writing exercises will take place. Material covered will include types of humor, style, attitude, segues, ad lib, microphone usage, juxtaposition joke writing, and progressive comedy. The class will culminate with a show the final day of class. No experience necessary; beginners and experienced performers welcome. The instructor is a performer who is active on the Rochester comedy scene and a four-time finalist in the Funniest Person in Rochester competition. “A great experience! I would like to pursue more comedy classes and open mics.” -Bob Friedrich
