“…Kuusisto is writing at the height of his powers. But what does that mean? It means that the poet finds a lyric key to the word, and knows it. But how is it done, what is his secret? Perhaps it is his knowledge of “the pressure that makes each fact float.” Old Horse, What Is to Be Done? is a beautiful, unrelenting, moving book. It is a book to live with. I love it.” –Ilya Kaminsky, author of Deaf Republic
Stephen Kuusisto directs The Burton Blatt Institute’s Programs in disability at Syracuse University, where he holds a University Professorship. He is the author of the memoirs Have Dog, Will Travel: A Poet’s Journey; Planet of the Blind, a New York Times “Notable Book of the Year”; and Eavesdropping: A Memoir of Blindness and Listening; and of the poetry collections Only Bread, Only Light and Letters to Borges.
Stephen Kuusisto will be in conversation with Tony Leuzzi, author of Meditation Archipelago.
