Stranger Things: Intro to Sci Fi and Fantasy Flash Fiction

January 18, 2020 @ EST 10:00 am

Member price:$65

Instructor: Celeste Schantz-Kovachi

Do you have a story to tell? Fantastic worlds to share? Characters in your head? Join fellow creative writers to encounter wild fiction that will have you falling through wormholes and sipping tea by the pool with replicants. Discover how to share your own stranger things, dreams, and nightmare visions in beautiful, brief detail. In this workshop, you’ll read some fantastic examples of uncanny speculative flash fiction. Several unconventional writing techniques will be shared; then we’ll spend some time crafting our own wild, weird drafts.

Celeste Schantz-Kovachi was the runner-up for the 2018 Stephen Dunn Prize in Poetry, judged by Terrance Hayes. She was a finalist in Fugue’s 2018 annual prose writing contest and was awarded a full scholarship from Middlebury College for the Bread Loaf Environmental Conference. Her work has been published in numerous journals and zines. Celeste is the editor of Mason Street, a literary magazine offered through the Newark Public library.
