Telling Tales

August 6 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 9:00am, repeating until August 10, 2018

To register please visit mag.rochester.edu/classes

Registration for this camp opens April 14.

Ages: 7-9

In this exciting collaboration between Writers & Books and the Creative Workshop at the Memorial Art Gallery, you’ll create your own characters and explore your own story ideas while learning at the hand of master teaching artists: a writer and a visual artist. You’ll learn the tools of the trade—how to illustrate an idea, choose a fitting style, and draw things you don’t know how to draw—and learn the basics of plot, character, and setting, all using juicy language. At the end of the week, you’ll take home your own comic or story book and illustrated mini stories. We will also spend time drawing in the museum. Students will spend the morning at Writers & Books and the afternoons at the Creative Workshop, and be walked by teachers between these sites during the lunch hour.
