Transformative Writing Series Week One: “Centering” By MC Richards

July 2, 2016 @ EST 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

$45
pen writing book

Transformative Writing Series Have you ever changed your life after reading a great spiritual thinker, life coach, or spiritual writer? Transformative writing is the intentional use of writing for psychological change and well-being in the realms of awareness, self-discovery, insight, consolation, and personal growth for both the author and reader. In this series, in classes that can be taken separately or together, we will read, experience, and discuss transformative writings by 4 inspiring authors. After each week’s reading, we will experiment with writing our own transformative works. Week One: M.C. Richards, who has been called a “practical mystic,” was an American poet, potter, and writer, best known for her book Centering in Pottery, Poetry, and the Person. In this class we will sink our teeth into selections from Centering that explore centering as the central metaphor in writing and living, and find inspiration in Richards’ combination of essay, personal narrative, and poetry. Students will have time to write and, if desired, get instructor and class feedback.
