August 27, 2016 @ EST 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
$45
Transformative Writing Transformative writing is the intentional use of writing for psychological change and well-being in the realms of awareness, self-discovery, insight, consolation, and personal growth for both the author and reader. In this series, in classes that can be taken separately or together, we will read, experience, and discuss transformative writings by inspiring authors. After each week’s reading, we will experiment with writing our own transformative works. Week Five: “Care of the Soul” by Thomas Moore: Care of the Soul: A Guide for Cultivating Depth and Sacredness in Everyday Life offers a philosophy for living that involves accepting our humanity rather than struggling to transcend it. Thomas Moore is an American spiritual writer, psychotherapist, and former monk. He writes in the fields of archetypal psychology, mythology, and imagination. Good for writers aspiring to weave psychology, religion, personal essay, and mythology into transformative texts.
