There has been a lot of talk recently about “Afrofuturism,” which applies to fantastic and speculative content in a variety of media: music, film, visual art, as well as literature. This talk addresses the history of writers of African descent engaging with the genres of Science Fiction and Fantasy, including Samuel R. Delany, Octavia E. Butler, Nalo Hopkinson, Nnedi Okorafor, N.K. Jemisin, and more.
