Write On for Homeschoolers
September 16, 2015 @ EST 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
$170
Code: F16-Y13 This session of Write On offers a workshop experience for the young writer! Each class will include: • writing prompts or games • time to work independently, in small groups, or with the instructor • a little break to play (outdoors, when the weather allows) Content will be student-directed, so expect lots of creativity! No doubt this college-professor-turned-homeschooler instructor will harp on all her usual teaching points–five step process, respecting and pushing limits, using the conventional terms and mechanics–but in the context of each student’s own chosen work. I expect this to be the most fun session yet! All ages are welcome, but best for grades 2-8. All students should be able to write independently (that is, they don’t need an adult to take dictation), but spelling and handwriting skills can be any level, so long as the student can read his or her own work. Please send students with writing materials if they have preferred ones (journals, folders, and pencils are provided for in-class use), a snack if necessary, a water bottle with a cap/lid (no open cups), a bag capable of holding any stuff they bring, and appropriate clothes/footwear/sun protection for going outside. Books and toys won’t be allowed out during class, so please make sure that any such things are either left home or fit in their bags.
