Writing Fiction from TV and Film

July 25 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

4 Thursdays, July 25 — August 10

Whether we’re penning prose or screenplays, award-winning films and TV offer much we can learn from. By studying and discussing screen clips, we’ll explore how to create compelling characters, develop engaging story arcs, craft realistic dialogue, and much more. Through exercises we’ll learn ways to incorporate what we learn into our own writing.

Alex Sanchez has published eight novels with Simon & Schuster, including the American Library Association “Best Book for Young Adults” Rainbow Boys and Lambda Award-winning So Hard to Say. His novel Bait won the Tomas Rivera Mexican-American Book Award and the Florida Book Award Gold Medal. Currently he’s writing a graphic novel for DC Comics. He has a master’s in counseling, worked for many years as a youth and family counselor, and now works as an author, teacher, and freelance developmental editor.  Find out more at www.alexsanchez.com
