Writing Ourselves as Stories in Progress: A Class Built Around the Works of Rochester Reads Author Sonja Livingston

January 27, 2016 @ EST 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

$207

Memoirs, reflections, personal essays—these stories we tell ourselves and others, about who we are, how we got here, and where we think we are going, are crucial to us as human beings. Ghostbread and Queen of the Fall will help us illuminate the role of autobiographical writing in our lives. Using Livingston’s brief chapters as keys to unlocking our own stories, we will write: of our joys, our loves, our disappointments, our fulfillments, and our yearnings. Excerpts from other memoirs will also provide inspiration, including the work of Maya Angelou, Viktor Frankl, Frank McCourt, Tillie Olson, and May Sarton. We will attend at least one of Livingston’s events March 15-19.
