Together, we’ll create a safe space to tell our own stories through many formats, including but not limited to fiction, personal essay, fanfic, songs, and poetry. We also will dive into the role writing has played in LGBTQIA+ folks creating community, building movements, and writing ourselves into our own narratives for as long as we’ve been around. We’ve been here. We’ve been queer (and/or trans and/or intersex and/or asexual). Come write with us in a supportive, fun camp that’s one part writing workshop, one part making new friends, one part exploring the amazing LGBTQIA+ culture and history you won’t learn in school, and 100% about celebrating who we are!
KaeLyn Rich (she/her) is the author of Girls Resist!: A Guide to Activism, Leadership, and Starting a Revolution, a YA activism handbook for young people ready to fight for change, social justice, and equality. KaeLyn is also a contributing writer for LGBTQ+ publication Autostraddle; the Vice President of Organizational Advancement for feminist advocacy org, UltraViolet; a public speaker on intersectionality, LGBTQ+ issues, and sexuality; a nonprofit leader; an occasional gender studies professor; and a direct action organizer. She’s an adoptee immigrant born in South Korea and raised in Western New York, a comfort food foodie, and a persistent devotee of the serial comma. She lives in the Swillburg neighborhood of Rochester with her spouse, a toddler T. rex, a fluffy scaredy-cat, a betta fish named Billy, and a rascally rabbit.
Workshops are conducted EST via Zoom, a virtual platform that allows you to participate in exercises and contribute to group conversation. To participate, please register by the deadline using the ticket portal below, or go to Scholarships. Zoom links are emailed to registered participants.
