Young Adult Novel in Nine Months

September 15, 2015 @ EST 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$450

This class gives you the push you need to get that short novel well drafted and/or revised in a reasonable timeframe. Join a circle of writers dedicated to writing compelling fiction intended for readers aged 13-18. Novelists will meet for three hours once per month to explore issues of process and craft, share scenes and chapters for constructive feedback, and resolve issues that come up along the way. In between class sessions you’ll write and contribute to a private class blog, where we can be accountable to each other for reaching milestones, discuss our struggles and progress, share resources, and post bits of work. In month nine, participants will get individual manuscript reviews from the instructor. Whether you’ve already made headway on your novel or are just gathering ideas, this group will provide the structure, companionship, feedback, good humor, and emotional support to help you see your project through. This course is limited to 8 students. To apply, please submit between 5 and 12 pages of fiction to wendylow@rochester.rr.com. PLEASE NOTE: Although this is designed for adults writing for teens, writers age 15-17 may apply for permission from the instructor. This program is for novelists who are ready to make a strong commitment to their work. Students will be expected to participate in every session.
