Monday: Poetry Doodles

April 15 @ 9:00 am

Do you like to doodle? Do you love to play with words? We’ll read poems, examine fun poetic devices like onomatopoeia and alliteration and make our own colorful drawings! We’ll also create concrete poems, where the words take a shape on the page!

Tuesday: Start Your Story

April 16 @ 9:00 am

Are stories constantly running through your imagination? Get your ideas out of your head and onto paper! This camp will give you fresh ideas and creative tools for starting your own story or continuing work on one you have already begun.

Wednesday: Young Storytellers

April 17 @ 9:00 am

The art of storytelling is important for confidence in any presentation. We’ll use theatre games to introduce skills needed to perform and engage an audience. We will practice a variety of techniques to deliver a story: voice, body language, and facial expressions.

Thursday: Bookmaking Extravaganza

April 18 @ 9:00 am

Students will make three unique books during this workshop: a Kaleidoscope book that opens like a fan or a DNA Helix, a Flag book that has a series of pages that interweave, and a pop-up book that has parts that move with the action of turning the pages. We’ll choose beautiful papers for the covers, and then have the opportunity to draw and write in our new books! Price includes $10 materials fee.

Friday: Rebels, Leaders, & Innovators

April 19 @ 9:00 am

This class will help us learn about the heroes among us, at all levels of society and in different times, and encourage us to stretch our“social good” muscles by reading age-appropriate biographies and doing engaging projects. We’ll embody our power to make a difference in our community!

Word Play Workshop (July 1 – July 3)

July 1 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

(ALL DAY: for ages 7-9) All work and no play makes for a dull writer. Come stretch your language brain in this camp where we will uncover the magic in words! We’ll write anagrams and palindromes, or find many little words within one big word. We will play games like Boggle, Scrabble, Taboo, or Hangman, then pencil our way through a word search, a crossword puzzle, or an acrostic. (MORNINGS: for ages 7-9) Do you like to pretend to be other people or to put yourself into someone else's life and experiences? Through games and age-appropriate scene work, young actors will investigate the various tools used in developing character work for performance.
