Stacy Lawrence is thrilled to be back at Writers & Books because: 1) her life was forever transformed when she watched Peter Cook and Kenny Lerner perform as the Flying Words Project at W&B in the late 1980s; 2) her children enjoyed taking W&B summer camps when they were little; 3) she loved teaching ASL at W&B years ago; and finally, 4) in keeping with the generous and supportive nature of the W&B team, they want to welcome deaf and hard of hearing children to their first deaf filmmaking workshop this summer! Stacy’s primary accomplishments in the past decade have been establishing a first-of-its-kind film camp for Deaf and hard of hearing teenagers, and making the Deaf Rochester Film Festival one of the world’s primary venues for showcasing films about, by, and for individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing.
