Ruth E. Thaler-Carter is an award-winning freelance writer, editor, proofreader, and presenter who has been published locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally in magazines, newspapers, books, newsletters, websites, and more. She is the author/publisher of “Get Paid to Write! Getting Started as a Freelance Writer”; author of “Freelancing 101: Launching Your Editorial Business” for the Editorial Freelancers Association; contributor to The Business of Editing: Effective and Efficient Ways to Think, Work, and Prosper; blogger on freelancing for the Society for Technical Communication and on writing and editing for the An American Editor blog; owner of Communication Central, which hosts an annual conference for freelancers; and new owner of A Flair for Writing, a publishing services company. She also creates and manages websites for several magazines, associations and businesses. She is especially proud of receiving a 2015 Writers & Books Big Pencil Award.
