Old Police Precinct Resurrected at Spiders & Crooks Halloween Party
Rochester NY: This October, Writers & Books will transform back into the old police precinct it once was for one night of spirits and spectacles. On Saturday, October 24th, Writers & Books will host Spiders & Crooks, a Halloween party, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
Entertainment for the evening will include tarot card readings, a mugshot photo booth, themed food and drink, raffles with prizes from local cultural organizations, a costume contest, scary story readings, games and more.
At 8:00 PM G.E. Schwartz will preform his theatrical performance of Nosferatu Bemshi, a combination of the silent 1922 F.W. Murnau film, NOSFERATU, with a soundscape, poetry and flash fiction to open up a new art form: Neo Bemshi. City Newspaper has called it ‘Eerie, dark, macabre, and powerful”
The building will be decorated with an arachnid theme, but will also contain a pop up jail cell in our back atrium with a mugshot photo booth. Attendees will be able to take their mugshot holding a Rochester NY plaque and then pick up the print at the end of the night to take home. The jail will also have history about the building when it was the Third Police Precinct as well as pictures and bios on officers that worked there.
Costume Contest winners will receive “mugshot mugs” and ornaments courtesy of Cat Clay Studio in the Hungerford building.
Poster design is by Joy Argento. Joy will also have a table at Spiders & Crooks selling her latest novel.
