SummerWrite Coordinator 2024

SCOPE OF WORK 

The SummerWrite Coordinator provides a high level of support to the Youth Education Associate in the areas of administration, communications, program delivery, and evaluation for the SummerWrite program for youth; and oversees the day-to-day operations of SummerWrite camps, July-August.

Weekly Schedule

  • May 27-June 28: 1o-20 hours/week
  • July 1-August 9: 40 hours/week
  • August 12-16: 10-15 hours

 Compensation: $17/ hour

Responsible to: Youth Education Associate

Location: SummerWrite camps take place at Writers & Books’ Rochester headquarters and satellite locations, including Arnett, Lincoln, Wheatley, and Sully branch libraries; Flower City Arts Center; The Memorial Art Gallery; and Gell: A Finger Lakes Retreat Center. Some local travel will be necessary. Coordinators will be reimbursed for use of public transportation/uber/personal vehicle when traveling to these sites.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate needs of teaching artists, including, but not limited to, scheduling, materials, field trips, and apprentice assignments/responsibilities
  • Work alongside the Apprentice Coordinator to assist with managing Apprenticeships, including the review process, onboarding, supervision, and evaluation
  • Troubleshoot and assist with problem-solving related to concerns of students, parents, teaching artists, apprentices, interns
  • Assist with planning and implementing SummerWrite training
  • Assist with managing student registration data, including monitoring camp size
  • Communicate pertinent information to teaching artists, apprentices, parents, and students
  • Coordinate anthology distribution and performances
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Previous experience working with children and families and managing complex projects
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
  • Demonstrated facility with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
  • Pluses: Familiarity with constituency management software and Canva or similar online design applications
